Inclusive Sport SA, as a member of Sport Inclusion Australia (SIA), supports the pathway for athletes with intellectual disability to represent at School, National and International level.

Virtus: World Intellectual Impairment Sport is the recognised International Federation for sport for athletes with an intellectual impairment and is responsible for managing and overseeing the eligibility process for athletes wishing to compete within Virtus and other para-sport competition.

Applying for Virtus Eligibility

If you, or the athlete you support, are selected in a Australian national team competing in a Virtus recognised competition registration with Virtus is required to be able to play in the competition or championships.

Sport Inclusion Australia collects all applications for Virtus eligibility in Australia.

Virtus requires all athletes seeking eligibility to provide the following documents for review:

  • A completed Virtus International Eligibility Application Form
  • Formal documents with evidence of disability as outlined in the Virtus Guidelines

Inclusive Sport SA and Sport Inclusion Australia (SIA) are here to support applicants and answer any queries you may have about the Virtus application form or eligibility requirements and process.

A team coach, manager or a National Sporting Body staff member may also speak with you about this and be able to provide instructions on what needs to be done.
