24 Mar Shelley Ware to host IDS19

Inclusive Sport SA is excited to announce host Shelley Ware for the 2019 Inclusion & Diversity in Sport conference (IDS19) at Adelaide Oval on Monday May 20.

Shelley Ware is a proud Yankunyjatjara and Wirangu woman originally from South Australia, who, as part of the ground breaking SBS football program The Marngrook Footy Show, has become one of most respected and recognised female presenters of AFL and AFLW football in the country. 

She is also a member of the Carlton Football Club RAP committee and Community, Diversity and Inclusion Board sub-committee as well as the AFLW All Australian and Rising Star Selection committee.

In addition to hosting her own segment ‘Around the Ground’ where she discusses events, and local issues from various Indigenous communities around the country, Shelley is also a part-time childhood educator teaching visual arts and is a passionate advocate for community sport, having grown up in a football family from Ceduna.

Shelley’s announcement comes about after the cancellation of Dylan Alcott, who was previously confirmed for the event. Last year Inclusive Sport SA locked in international athlete, business owner and media personality Dylan Alcott to emcee the event, however were informed that Tennis Australia had added an a tournament to Dylan’s overseas tournament schedule for 2019.

With a skyrocketing public profile and a forehand to match, the three time Paralympic Gold medallist expressed his disappointment in not being able to be at IDS19.

“I’m bummed I can’t be there to meet you all but a last minute tournament in Israel has me hitting tennis balls for the good old Green & Gold. See you soon I hope!” Dylan said.
