13 Jul New ILC Project – sharing the possibility, opportunity and learning in sport & recreation.
Inclusive Sport SA (ISSA) are pleased to announce an exciting partnership with the National Disability insurance Agency in the delivery of an Information, Linkages and Capacity Building (ILC) Project. The project will facilitate the collaboration of sport and recreation stakeholders and people living with a disability to produce a collective of information that showcases inclusive participation opportunities for both organisations and individuals alike.
The two year project will build the infrastructure necessary for knowledge sharing amongst the sector to provide positive outcomes for people living with disabilities. This includes access to an online hub of information needed to make active lifestyle decisions and choices and a video campaign that promotes disability as an ‘ordinary life’.
ISSA Chief Executive Officer, John Cranwell, said “the success of the ILC Project will depend on significant collaboration from a wide range of stakeholders involved in the sport and recreation sector to maximise the partnership’s vision of enhancing social inclusion possibilities for people living with a disability”.
“We have good relationships with state sporting bodies, government departments, and higher education institutions through to local clubs and community organisations. With a group effort and guidance from our members that we service, we’re certain that sharing models of best practice will increase the capability and opportunities for people living with a disability to seek out and stay involved in sport and or an active lifestyle.”
With the construction of a best practises online hub, video campaign and newly created roles within ISSA to build and manage the ILC Project, the organisation is braced to empower and enable the sector and people living with a disability by acting as a conduit to possibility, opportunity and learning.
Former General Manager of Hockey SA, Katrina Ranford has joined the organisation as General Manager Sector Engagement and is looking forward to leading the project and working with the sport and recreation sector in a collective effort to promote change that can benefit all.
Commenting on her new appointment, Katrina said, “With an already established position in the industry, I’m excited for the opportunity to work with John and the ISSA team to engage the sector to push the envelope, challenge norms and deliver meaningful capabilities and opportunities for an inclusive sport and recreation sector”.
CEO, John Cranwell said, “We’re at an exciting time for the organisation as we continue our transition into a new strategic and innovative phase in our long and proud history”.
Building on the success of last year’s Humans of Sport in SA campaign led by film maker Mike Worsman, which received the 2017 National Sports Convention Marketing and Communications Innovation Award, this year’s video campaign will be significant in the visible success of the ILC Project.
“We are thrilled to introduce two new roles at ISSA and again secure the vision of Mike to lead the Project’s video creative pieces,” John said.
ISSA will also seek to employ a Communications & Sport Inclusion Coordinator to manage the current Supported Sports Program and assist with progression of the ILC Project. More information is available under the Employment page.
“The Board and I are enthusiastic about the direction Inclusion in sport and recreation and the organisation is heading. The ILC Project will bolster a renewed focus on innovation for the organisation and for our members, while solidifying our ongoing commitment to building an inclusive culture in sport and recreation for all Australians,” John said.
