29 Sep C6 Netball – 2015 Season Wrap Up
2015 Season Wrap Up!
C6 Netball for 2015 has finished with many highlights throughout the season.
It was fantastic to see the return of the Central District Harlequin Netball Club to the C6 Division in 2015 along with the continued support once again from AMND clubs Contax, Matrics, Newton Jaguars, Semaphore and Woods Panthers.
Player numbers increased this year which allowed the return of the Harlies and hopefully this trend will continue and make a stronger and more competitive competition.
RUBIES VS JAGS!
A highlight prior to the season commencing was on Friday night, 8th May. It was the Disability Round Curtain Raiser Match between the SA Rubies (SA Representative team for people with an Intellectual Disability) and the C6 Newton Jaguars (2014 C6 Premiership team) prior to the Premier Division Matches.
This was a fantastic opportunity to showcase the talent and spirit of the Rubies against the best of the C6 competition from the previous season. The crowd steadily built throughout the match and many onlookers were impressed with what they saw.
SEMAPHORE’S SEASON!
Semaphore went through the minor round undefeated which is a tremendous feat at any level! Next best was the Jags who only dropped matches to the league leaders.
Round 4 was a highlight for the Woods Panthers side who captured their only win of the season by defeating the Contax. Another highlight was in the Round 11 fixture where Matrics and Contax played out an 11-all draw.
FINALS TIME!
Results in the semi finals went as expected with Semaphore once again too strong for the Newton Jaguars and they earned their place in another Grand Final seeking redemption from 2014. Harlequin had a convincing win over Matrics to set them up for a preliminary final showdown with the Newton Jaguars.
The preliminary final between the Newton Jaguars and Harlequin was an epic match! The Harlies led for most of the match before a final quarter surge by the Jags got them over the line by the barest of margins in what was some of the highest quality netball of the season. Final score: Newton Jaguars 23 defeated Harlequin 22.
GRAND FINAL – Semaphore vs Newton Jaguars!
The Grand Final was an intense affair, with both sides needing to cool their heads in the first quarter. The experience of the Newton Jaguars soon started to show as they steadily pulled away throughout the match to eventually win by five goals.
Congratulations to the Newton Jaguars on winning the AMND C6 Division. Semaphore had a terrific season going through the minor round undefeated, however couldn’t carry it through to the final day
FINAL SCORE: Newton Jaguars 27 def Semaphore 22
