18 Oct 2018 C6 Netball End of Season Wrap
Last Saturday over eighty members of the C6 Netball community gathered to celebrate another successful season of netball and award the coveted Tracey Tucker Memorial Trophy to the 2018 Best and Fairest player. The event which was held in the Main Function Room, Aldi Arena, saw players, coaches and family members gather for lunch and presentation of the Grand Final Perpetual shield, Grand Final Best on Court and Best and Fairest awards. Inclusive Sport SA and SANFL’s Nathan Pepper played the role of MC for the day recapping the highlights and upsets for both the round games and finals series in the 2018 season. Fresh from their silver medal winning trip to Brisbane, SA Rubies State coach Tricia Crockford gave a report on the team’s performance in Queensland and acknowledged the hard work of the players across the three day championships. Whilst the SA Rubies were unfortunate to lose to NSW in a close Grand Final game, the opportunity to play on court as the opener for the Australian Diamonds game that day is something that every player and team official will remember and cherish. 2018 C6 Premiers, Central Districts Netball Club, accepted the Marie Little Perpetual Shield with Coach Samantha Luck praising her team for keeping their cool and their stellar performance during the nail-biting Grand Final game on September 22.
The event culminated in the count for the Tracey Tucker Best and Fairest Memorial Trophy which saw a close competition through the early rounds of the season with a single vote separating first and second position on the ladder. However, a break out by Isabella Ivancic-Holland in the later rounds saw the Semaphore Netball Club player take out the sought-after award with a comfortable eight vote lead for the second year straight. Thank you to all players, parents, carers and coaches for attending and helping us to celebrate the 2018 C6 Netball Presentation. We look forward to seeing you all next year for more netball in Season 2019!
